Hajj and Umrah, both are the most sacred events and pilgrimages of Islam that every Muslim wish to perform once in a lifetime. Though Umrah is not an obligatory pilgrimage like Hajj, it holds enormous value and rewards for Muslims and that’s why millions of Muslims Book Hajj Package and travel for the holy rituals.
Hajj and Umrah are performed with the utmost spirit by Muslims and with the strong intentions to seek forgiveness from the Almighty. So, if you are also up to this sacred event, there are two options to travel to Makkah and perform these pilgrimages; either in groups with other families or individually.
Here’s a brief description of traveling for hajj and umrah with a Group v. individually.
Traveling in Groups.
Traveling in a group is quite budget-friendly as well as efficient because all of your umrah or hajj travel remains pre-planned by the travel agent himself. However, you can always choose to travel in the random group or the proximity group.
The random group; consists of random people i.e., who are not necessarily from your region, city, country, in fact utterly can be anonymous to you like all other people in Haram Shareef.
The proximity group; consists of the people of your family, neighbors, peers, relatives, or even someone you don’t know but is from the same country/city from which you are traveling. These groups are first formed by the people themselves and then consulted by the same agency in order to travel to the sacred land.
Generally, the proximity groups are much better than the random groups because in close proximity, the people already know each other and thus know how to care for each other as well as they remain understanding of each other. Whereas, in a random group, you might not get that much comfortable with the people so easily.
Another benefit of group packages is that they are also affordable because many people on the board have meals, accommodation, and transportation with each other i.e., on a sharing basis. So, it’s best for people traveling on a budget or for families going for umrah travel together.
Private Hajj and Umrah packages are exceptionally good in terms of privacy because you don’t have to bother or concern others’ comfort, like in group travel. In such a package, all of the umrah/hajj travel, type of accommodation, airline class, and everything else of the sort is determined by the person and then the travel agency arranges for it.
Nonetheless, individual packages are more costly because of the personalized nature of services. However, in an individual traveling package, you get the opportunity to plan your tour according to your comfort and convenience and thus best advised for small families or if you can easily afford it.
These are some of the things to know about traveling for hajj and umrah with a group vs. individually.
